Mock Cable Scarf

A mock cable is created without the use of a cable needle. To keep scarf secured around your neck on windy days an opening is built in. Just pull scarf through to keep in place.

(2) 100gram skeins Chunky 10ply yarn 


Knitting Needles
10.5 US/6.5 mm

Gauge
4”/10 cm sq. = 12 sts x 16 rows in stockinette stitch

Instructions
Cast on 30 sts
Work scarf as follows:
Row 1 (RS): p2 [k2, p2]
Row 2: k2 [p2, k2]
Row 3: p2 [k2tog but do not slip sts off left needle, insert right hand needle between these 2 sts and k first stitch again. Slip both sts off needle and p2]
Row 4: work as Row 2

Repeat Rows 1-4 until scarf measures 29”/74 cm long
Work 16 sts in pattern and place marker on needle.

Start a second ball of yarn and work remaining sts on needle
Continue to work in pattern for 3”/7.5 cm

When stitch marker is reached remove and continue in pattern using current yarn to close up opening

Continue to work in pattern until scarf measures 47”/119 cm

Bind off in pattern

Weave in loose yarn ends with a tapestry needle
